David Peachey, MD
David Peachey is Principal of Health Intelligence Inc., a Halifax-based healthcare consulting firm with clients in the private sector, provincial and territorial governments, and medical associations. Prior to establishing the consulting firm in 1995, he was the Director of Professional Affairs at the Ontario Medical Association for ten years.
Dr. Peachey’s clinical experience spanned 40 years, including comprehensive family medicine, emergency medicine, and urgent care. He graduated from the University of Western Ontario in 1971 and practised comprehensive family medicine, initially as part of the Underserviced Area Program and then in Barrie, Ontario. At the Royal Victoria Hospital, he was Chief of General and Family Practice, Chief of Obstetrics and Neonatology, and President of Medical Staff. He was also a member of the Royal Victoria Hospital Board of Directors.
Central to Dr. Peachey’s consulting portfolio is the use of data in deriving health policy, compensation comparative frameworks, needs-based physician workforce planning, clinical services planning, and fee schedule reform and planning.
In 2013, he was awarded Life Membership in the Ontario Medical Association “. . . in recognition of an outstanding contribution to the work of the Association, the medical profession and medical science, or common good in Ontario.”
In 2014, he was awarded Emeritus Status by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario.
Director of Operations
Robin Carels
As Director of Operations, Robin Carels keeps the firm running smoothly. Besides overseeing all aspects of administration, she participates in the organization of contracts and conducts initial research for projects.
Previously, she worked in Manitoba healthcare for 20 years. She was Administrative Coordinator at Winnipeg Regional Health Authority for 10 years, then Project Lead in clinical services planning, a project that would introduce and drive major changes in Manitoba’s healthcare system. Most recently, she served as Operations Coordinator at Manitoba Shared Health, the provincial governing healthcare organization.
In the past, Robin Carels owned and operated a large agricultural firm specializing in grain production. Robin has a Project Management certificate from St. Mary’s University in Halifax. She is also a licensed pilot.
